July 12, 2010 — As summer reaches the midway point, the local entertainment agenda includes a classy outdoor concert, a dog walk in the park, a wagon train rolling through Davenport and a presentation on the wonders of water - good timing, considering the temperatures over the past week.

Mozart in the park
Classical music will step to the forefront one of the region's most visited greenspaces this week as Connoisseur Concerts presents the 20th annual Mozart on a Summer's Eve at Manito Park. Performances are set for 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 13 and Wednesday, July 14. Tickets are $25 for table seating and $10 for the lawn section. The show will be presented in an area just east of Duncan Gardens. Tickets are available at the Spokane Arena box office, 720 W. Mallon, or through Tickets West at www.ticketswest.com.

Dog days of summer
Looking for a special dog or cat to join the household this summer? The Spokane Humane Society will sponsor Pet Day in the Park this Saturday, July 17 at 3707 S. Zephyr Road in Liberty Lake, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The free event will include dog and cat adoptions, a dog walk, vendors and entertainment. To learn more, call 509-979-9996.

Pioneer Days in Davenport
The Old West will be part of the annual celebration known as Davenport Pioneer Days this weekend, beginning Friday, July 16. The lineup includes a kid's carnival, car show, "Pioneer Plod" fun run, horseshoe tournament and barbecue. To learn more, call 509-215-0424.

Single adult events
Lake Coeur d'Alene will be the site of an LDS Single Adult Conference (ages 31-45) this weekend, beginning on Friday, July 16. For more information, call 208-773-5222. The Spokane Valley Stake will sponsor a multi-stake Single Adult Conference on July 30-31. The agenda includes volleyball, horseshoes, a picnic and educational workshops. H20 101
Staff from the West Valley Outdoor Learning Center in Spokane will be at the Otis Orchards Library this Thursday, July 15 to present a course in the basics of water as part of the Spokane County Library District's Summer Reading 2010 program. The free environmental education event will begin at 2 p.m. at the library, 22324 E. Wellesley in Otis Orchards. To learn more, call 509-893-8390.
